I write memoir in several genres, including plays, books, and essays. I create visual memoir through my photography and assemblage. I belong to the Friday Morning Writers' Group, a wonderful, active team of writing partners, and to Women in the Visual and Literary Arts (WIVLA). WIVLA is a terrific and unique organization that I recommend you check out, especially if you live in the Houston area. I also belong to the Houston Photographic Society where I have learned a tremendous amount about photography.
I've had two plays performed: "Like Fish Swimming Through Rock" and "Legends in Time." "Fish" came to life under the auspices of the Edward Albee New Playwrights' Workshop through the University of Houston at Stages Theatre. I cannot convey the privilege I felt to be selected by Edward Albee for this program. "Fish" premiered in Houston in 2005, staged by a professional company, In the Wings Productions. (Workshop productions don't count as "real productions" because you're still working the kinks out.) "Legends" is a commissioned young audience play that premiered on Mackinac Island, Michigan a couple of years ago.
This season, Michael is attending the Houston Ballet with me as well as the Alley Theatre. We belong to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and will enjoy many extraordinary exhibits there this year, too. Our youngest, Tori, is a junior in high school. Our son, Nick, is a senior at Tulane University. My eldest, daughter, Alix, is working part time and attending college, too. Alix and husband Adam bought their first house this year, about ten miles from us.
My biggest project continues to be my memoir, "The Requirements of Love." I keep making progress on it and I feel great! I attended the Mayborn Literary Non-Fiction Writers' Conference of the Southwest in Grapevine, Texas last summer. Absolutely fabulous and I learned so much! I plan to attend again this year.

I bought a big stack of books at the Mayborn Institute Literary Non-Fiction Writers' Conference. How could I resist after hearing the authors speak? I finished reading Rock, Ghost, Willow, Deer: A Story of Survival by Allison Adelle Hedge Coke already. It moved me so much - how she stayed alive, through her early teen years especially, is beyond me. I recommend the book. Next I plan to read Ruffian by William Nack. His readings at the conference had such a lyrical quality to them ... I am looking forward to this book, too. I also finished the final Harry Potter book and felt sorry to see the stories end. I did not like the epilogue, but Rowling handled the actual story very well.

- Writing in my studio regularly.
- Enjoying my life.
- Planning travel to Helena, MT and Minneapolis, MN.
- Visited Washington, D.C. and NYC this summer.
